Many people are confused by what we do and the services we offer. This page will answer some of those questions. We want to be there for you to provide the best possible care from the moment of birth throughout life.
Our care begins with your child at the moment of birth.
If one of the area obstetricians will be delivering your child, we would like to meet with you at least once during your pregnancy so you may get to know us and feel comfortable with you child's future care.
When needed, we attend cesarean sections, and all of our physicians provide nursery care in the hospital.
Our emphasis on a healthy lifestyle begins at birth. We stress such measures as breast feeding, routine immunizations and well-child check-ups. If an illness arises, we can care for your child either in the office or in the hospital.
Family physicians believe that the cornerstone of treatment is prevention of disease before it begins or becomes serious. Thus, we devote time to talk about health maintenance during your visits. We will always try to explain your treatment plan clearly so you may actively assist us with your health maintenance.
Ancillary tests such as lab work and x-rays are vital in managing your health care. Our office is equipped to handle basic blood and urine tests. Tests not performed in our office are sent to an outside reference laboratory providing fast, reliable service.
We are also equipped to perform chest x-rays, basic x-rays of the extremities, splinting and casting as needed. Other more specialized testing such as pulmonary function tests, holter (heart) monitoring, exercise treadmill cardiac testing and others are offered through our office for your convenience.
Adults and children need immunizations to keep them from getting
certain diseases. When you think of immunizations, children usually
come to mind. However, adults also need to keep their immunizations
up to date. The Family Healthcare Center offers a full range of
immunizations to cover the needs of our patients. We have both adult
and pediatric immunization schedules available upon request. If you
have any questions regarding immunizations, please feel free to ask
any of our health care providers.
The Family Healthcare Center offers routine female exams (pap smears and breast exams). We manage most problems such as birth control options, abnormal pap smears, breast lumps, irregular periods and hormone replacement therapy.
We offer the repair of lacerations and the surgical removal of most skin lesions. Uncomplicated broken bones and sprains can be treated with splints and casts in our office as well. We offer vasectomies, colonoscopy, IUDs and flexible sigmoidoscopy if needed. If you have any questions about a procedure, please feel free to contact us.
Health maintenance examinations continue to be of major
importance as persons move into the adult years. Your family
physician will recommend tests that may need to be done on a routine
basis.
These tests have proven to be cost effective and beneficial in the early detection of health problems. We can also direct the management of most acute and chronic illnesses.
Should hospitalization be needed, we will admit you to Laurens County Hospital or to another specialist at an appropriate facility. We can provide hospital care for the entire age spectrum, infants to adults.
If you are ever hospitalized by another specialist, please
contact our office so we can keep up-to-date with your health
status.
